The outpouring of love and support from people all over the world during this sensitive time has been beyond description and appreciated beyond words.  At this time we would like to keep this a private matter for Elder Oakey and our family.  Please continue to pray for him.  Again thank you for all your support and prayers.

  3. I'm sad to see you took down all of the posts about Elder Oakey's experience and his miraculous rescue. It was very inspirational. But, I am sure you have important personal reasons. I hope you will provide updates on his recovery when the time is right. Our family prayers are with all of you.

  8. I'm glad that he's returned home, and that he wasn't as harmed as he could have been. Heavenly Father was looking out for him.

  9. I know Elder Oakey has been a wonderful amazing, loving, hard working missionary!! As a mother of four sons three that have served missions for the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints...all of our sons have done something maybe they wish they would not of done if they thought about it longer! Elder Oakey has done great things in the last 19 months and I wish we could talk about the great work he has done and all the service he has given and not the one thing that was a quick decision that he is paying the price for big time!! I know Elder Oakey and his family need prayers and not mean judgement!! As our son serves in the Milan, Italy Mission... he and our family are praying for you and your family!!! People all over the world are praying for all of you! Thank you Elder Oakey for the service and love you have given the people of Guatemala!!! Get well SOON!!

  11. Thank you for sharing and being vocal. There is no reason to hide and mope.

You were attacked by two LIONS and YOU attacked back! There's no telling what you can do. So yes, write about it, get an education and keep on choosing to be being positive.

  12. I just read the LDS Living article about you to my kids. It was an inspiring article. It sure sounds like you have a great tale to tell! We all hope you are doing well. May God bless you always, in the moments of courage and strength, and in the moments of doubt and darkness. I pray those moments of doubt and darkness will be brief and will be replaced quickly by the light and love of the Savior! I hope you will be able to share your story. I suspect you will find strength in sharing. May God bless you and your family through it all.
